There have been some recent changes to the former EOS corner on Carl and Cole. In the last week, blue paint has been added and just a few days ago the sign was added, "Padrecito." No news when Mamacita's brother restaurant will open but looks like it might be soon! Watch this space for more updates on the new Mexican restaurant coming to our quaint little neighborhood.
In the mean time, check out Mamacita's (in the Marina on Chestnut) website. Supposedly it is the "Best Mexican in the San Francisco Bay Area." Sounds promising! UPDATE (via SF GrubStreet) Looks like Padrecito won't be opening in February but now they are pushing it to March. Padrecito will be a more refined version of their original restaurant, Mamacita. No news on what the menu will consist of but they have been able to secure their liquor license so there will be sure to be very delicious drinks! More info: http://sanfrancisco.grubstreet.com/2013/02/padrecito-opening-date-cole-valley-mamacita-eos.html Many thanks to our follower, @MeghanCArnold, we got some great information about the possibility of adding a drive-thru window at the McDonald's at Haight and Stanyan. Many neighbors heard about this new addition to the somewhat sketch Micky D's at the monthly community meeting at the Park Police Station last night. Mr. C.C. Yin of Vacaville, supposedly a new owner of the franchise, thinks that adding a drive-thru will improve the neighborhood. Seems as though the community fought for this same proposition some 20 years back and now it looks like it's on the table once again.
So what do you think neighbors? Do you want a drive-thru McDonald's in the Haight or is it just fine the way it is. For those against the addition, make your voice heard! Blast on social media even email (you can contact the owner directly and tell him what you think! Email Mr. C.C. Yin. Bacon Bacon, our friendly (and yummy) food truck turned neighborhood shop, needs your help! Bacon Bacon might have to close their doors due to complaints by two neighbors near Bacon Bacon. The bacon-obsessed food shop is collecting signatures from neighborhoods and bacon lovers everywhere to submit to SF City Planning in hopes of keeping the storefront on Frederick Street open for all to enjoy. "Two neighbors near Bacon Bacon want to see our doors closed. We need your support" We here at ColeValleySF have always supported local businesses, whether a food shop or a hair salon. We believe in the importance of locally owned storefronts because it really helps make the Cole Valley neighborhood, at let's face it San Francisco as a whole, a unique place to live. Even in our small nook, we have seen many local businesses fail but have also seen new ones thrive! We hope the our neighbors (that's you Upper Haight and Ashbury Heights...and I guess Frederick's Knob too) will see the appreciation and need for local businesses. So signing the petition to keep Bacon Bacon is not just about helping Bacon Bacon thrive but also to support local storefronts in general.
Go to Bacon Bacon's website and sign the petition to KEEP BACON BACON IN THE HAIGHT! We love you guys and hope you stick around! |
