TanTrum Expansion Halts

1/30/2016

The beloved Tantrum plans to expand into old Doug's Suds storefront at the corner of Carl and Cole has halted due to building retrofitting.  Tantrum owner, Amanda Weld, reported that the building has to undergo major seismic retrofitting and they will need to evacuate by the end of February. As we have all experienced (i.e. muni tunnel and Cole Hardware construction), retrofitting can take a lot longer than originally anticipated. Tantrum hopes to find a temporary home during this construction and hopes to be back in their new and improved Doug's Suds location later this year. Tantrum has been such a joy to have in our little neighborhood and we hope that they will be back in business soon!

Lavation Studio Opens on Stanyan

After 15 months of renovation and construction, Lavation Studio is opened for business at 784 Stanyan St., formerly home to Son Loy Laundry. According to co-owner Jason Kaidasz, the 2,500-square-foot space will be devoted to indoor cycling and circuit training. Kaidasz and team had their work cut out for them to completely gut and renovate a former laundromat space.
"We wanted to offer a lot of space for bikes and create a facility where people were really comfortable and not on top of each other," said Kaidasz, also owner of Midline, a studio around the corner at 515 Frederick St. "This new facility itself is a cardiovascular workout center," Kaidasz said.

Be sure to stop by Lavation Studio and see if their cardio exercise is right for you. Right now there are having great introductory class packages.

La Boulangerie De San Francisco Opens!

Some may have noticed that the La Boulangerie de San Francisco (formerly, La Boulange) has opened and is in full swing. The decor is a bit of a mix between industrial modern and French artisan but they are still whipping out some tasty pastries. La Boulangerie also has expanded their food menu, with more hot food and to-go options. We have yet to find their famous macaroons but are excited that they are promoting local favorites like Choux and Boba Guys. There's no official website yet so best to check La Boulangerie on Yelp or simply take a stroll and check them out.

SUNSET TUNNEL WORK STARTS SOON

11/4/2014

We are sure you all have had your fair share of frustration for the long, never-going-to-end N Judah Improvement Project. While Muni isn't going to be digging up our roads or sidewalks right now, they are going to start improving the Sunset Tunnel through their Sunset Tunnel Trackway Improvement Project. The project will involves replacing tracks, upgrading overhead wiring, refurbishing fire water valves, retrofitting the retaining walls and their foundations, and adding transit signal priority for Muni cars at nine intersections along the N-Judah route.

Constant postponements by SFMTA will now cease and supposed construction work will commence around 7pm this Friday until 2am Monday.  While the work is underway, bus shuttles will replace regular N-Judah service between Church and Duboce and Ocean Beach. The bus shuttles will follow the regular N-Judah route, except of course for the tunnel portion (they'll travel along Haight instead).

Good luck everyone.

Muni Fare to Increase September 2014

8/1/2014

Comments

Picture
According to Clippercard.com, SFMTA plans to increase all adult single ride fares and monthly passes on September 1, 2014. It seems as though that change machine at Doug's Suds at Carl/Cole will get a bit more use from muni riders thanks to the amount of change necessary to get anywhere. What do you think of this fare increase, given all the construction, overcrowding, and delayed trains?

Current fares are the following:

Adult Single Fare: $2
Adult Muni Only Pass: $66/month
Adult Muni & Bart Fastpass: $76/month

There's what the fare increases will look like this September:

Adult Single Fare: $2..25
Adult Muni Only Pass: $68/month
Adult Muni & Bart Fastpass: $80/month
