Serious Incidents
1400 block of Scott St. (O'Farrell St.) Burglary Construction trailer broken into overnight and power tools were taken. 1600 block of Turk St. (Pierce St.) Burglary Vacant public housing apartment broken into over the weekend and power tools were taken. 1100 block of Scott St. (Turk St.) 12:30 PM Robbery A resident was followed into his home and robbed at gunpoint of his wallet while his house was ransacked by four robbers. Divisadero St. and Geary Blvd. 3:50 PM Robbery A 27 year old SF woman had her cell phone wrenched from her hand by a robber who ran away with the phone. Stonestown 6 PM Extortion Haight Street Foot Beat Officer Granucci was told by a merchant of an acquaintance who was being extorted. The victim had befriended a younger woman (18 years old) who had stolen his money and his passport from his home in the Richmond District the week before. The younger woman then contacted the victim and said that she would return his identity papers for $500. Lieutenant Kerr took over the case and arranged for the victim and the suspect to meet in a Stonestown restaurant. Sergeant Ryan and posse set up a surveillance with the help of Richmond Station officers, as the case was assigned to their command. The officers noted a counter-surveillance by two men when they arrived. The suspect sent a 17 year old girl to meet the victim. Sergeant Ryan's squad arrested the juvenile for extortion after she demanded the money from the victim. She told the police that the two men seen earlier were involved in the crime, too. That pair, a 19 year old Daly City man and a 19 year old OMI District man, were arrested after a foot chase through the neighborhood. They were charged with conspiracy and extortion. A search warrant (for the stolen money and documents) was granted for a home on the 300 block of Byxbee Street and Tactical Company officers served it at 2 AM on July 26. Most of the stolen identity papers and none of the money was recovered. The original theft suspect, an 18 year old OMI District resident, was arrested at the home as was the homeowner, a 39 year old man. He was charged with possessing a handgun with its serial number removed and she was charged with extortion. Four handguns and three rifles were seized during the search warrant. Other Incidents 6th Ave. and Irving St. 2:15 AM Traffic Case A Millbrae man left his car double parked with the engine running. Two men jumped into the car and drove off in it. The thief clipped a parked car with the stolen car and struck a lamp post nearby. The suspects abandoned the car and fled on foot. 1100 block of Divisadero St. (Turk St.) 3:35 PM Theft Unattended cell phone taken from counter of dry cleaner. Divisadero and Eddy Streets 9:40 AM Warrant Service Sergeant Burrows arrested a 50 year old SF man on a local burglary warrant. Haight Street Corridor 600 block of Clayton St. (Haight St.) Auto Burglary Occurred in the morning. Masonic Ave. and Haight St. 6:45 PM Disorderly Conduct A 30 year old SF man annoyed a French family while they were waiting for a bus. He showed them a knife and boarded the MUNI coach with them. A passerby called the police and Officer Sterns found the bus at Haight and Fillmore Streets. He arrested the suspect for being drunk in public. 500 block of Lincoln Way (6th Ave.) Auto Burglary Occurred overnight. 200 block of Noe St. (15th St.) Theft A man double parked his van in front of a liquor store and asked for a bottle of brandy. He inspected it and asked for a different brand. He ran from the store with the second bottle when the clerk was distracted while putting the first bottle away. The thief dropped his wallet during his escape and the clerk was able to identify the man from his drivers license photo. 500 block of Scott St. (Fell St.) Stolen Vehicle '85 Yamaha motorcycle taken overnight. Divisadero and O'Farrell Streets 9 AM Robbery A 73 year old Park Merced woman had her purse snatched by a robber. Golden Gate Park - Alvord Lake 3:40 PM Aggravated Assault A man lost a fight inside the park and returned with three friends who assaulted three others, putting all three in the hospital with head and facial injuries. 1200 block of 2nd Ave. (Lincoln Way) Burglary Occurred between 9:15 and 10:15 PM. Illegal entry via front door. Bike, two laptop computers, purse and wallet taken. First block of Flint St. (16th St.) Burglary Occurred overnight. Forced entry of building's garage - bike taken. 1400 block of McAllister St. (Scott St.) Burglary Occurred between July 19 and 22. Entry via open window. Television and computer taken. Other Incidents 100 block of Corbett Ave. (Ord St.) Auto Burglary Occurred July 16. Haight Street Corridor Sit/Lie Violations One warned and one cited during the course of the day. Oak and Lyon Streets 9:40 PM Traffic Case 28 year old Nob Hill woman cited for driving with a suspended license; her car was impounded. 100 block of Parnassus Ave. (Cole St.) 1:10 AM Robbery A 24 year old Ashbury Heights man was robbed at knifepoint of his phone and wallet. The suspect, a black male in his late 30's wearing a white baggy shirt over dark baggy sweatpants, fled on foot. Golden Gate Park - Kezar Dr. and Waller St. Auto Burglary Occurred during the afternoon. Haight Street Corridor - MUNI bus Theft Victim reported having his pocket picked during a ride from Market and Powell Streets to Haight and Stanyan Streets. His wallet was taken. 600 block of Clayton St. (Haight St.) 3:40 PM Robbery Arrest Officer Doherty recognized another suspect from July 10th's cab robbery, which had occurred at Grove and Lyon Streets, and arrested the Oakland juvenile without incident. Golden Gate Park Alvord Lake 11:30 AM Narcotics Case Officer Farrell arrested a 30 year old SF man for possession of narcotics paraphernalia. Alvord Lake 3:15 PM Narcotics Case Officer Fegan arrested a 23 year old SF man for possession of marijuana, Alvord Lake 7 PM Warrant Service Officer Farrell arrested a 32 year old man on a Michigan State Parole Violation warrant. Masonic Avenue Corridor 5 PM Traffic Case Lieutenant Solomon and posse cited 10 motorists and impounded 1 car in a traffic enforcement operation. Oak and Ashbury Streets 8 PM Traffic Case 59 year old Central Sunset woman cited for driving with a suspended license; her car was impounded. 200 block of Roosevelt Way (15th St.) 8 PM Death Case Officer Stearns investigated a death and turned the case over to the Medical Examiner's Office. 900 block of Stanyan St. (Frederick St.) 5:20 PM Vandalism An irate motorist exited his vehicle, pounded on the door of another driver's van, and broke the van's rear window while shouting about the other motorist's poor driving. 300 block of Upper Terrace (Monument Way) Narcotics Case Officer Fraize arrested a trespasser and charged him with possession of methamphetamine. 1100 block of Divisadero St. (Turk St.) 11:20 AM Robbery A 36 year old Bayview District man and his daughter were robbed at gunpoint by two men as they sat in their van on Divisadero Street. The robbers fled with a wallet and a cell phone. Haight St. and Masonic Ave. 10:35 PM Robbery Arrest Officer Fraize stopped a 19 year old Treasure Island man because he had appeared in a surveillance photograph taken during an armed cab robbery at Grove and Lyon Streets on July 10th. Sergeant Callaway responded to the intersection to question the man. The man fled the officers during the interview and was captured inside Panhandle Park near Fell and Ashbury Streets. He was booked on robbery charges at Park Station. Lincoln Way and 3rd Ave. Auto Burglary Occurred on July 14. 100 block of Marview Way (Panorama Dr.) Vandalism Home wrecked by friends of owner's son during owner's absence the second week of July. first block of Museum Way (Roosevelt Way) Threats Emails sent by unknown suspect. Park Station 4:30 PM Sexual Battery Arrest Inspector Kelly charged a County Jail inmate with misdemeanor sexual battery and battery in a July 8th case wherein a woman was accosted and spat upon while riding the N Judah through the Sunset Tunnel. The suspect, a 37 year old SF man, was arrested July 8th in the Duboce Triangle neighborhood on an unrelated charge and later identified by the battery victim. Serious Incidents
Beideman and O'Farrell Streets 11:59 PM Robbery A cabbie picked up a fare on the 1600 block of Fillmore Street and was directed to Beideman and O'Farrell Streets where the fare produced a knife and robbed the cabbie of his money. The suspect fled on foot. Other Incidents 500 block of Burnett Ave. (Hopkins Ave.) 5 PM Mental Health Evaluation Officer Sterns investigated a burglary and determined that a neighbor had been entering the victim's apartment without permission. The neighbor appeared and the good officer interviewed him. He then brought the neighbor to SFGH for a mental health evaluation. Frederick St. and Arguello Blvd. Vandalism Parked car damaged sometime between June 13 and 27. Haight Street Corridor Sit/Lie Violations: Three people were cited for Sit/Lie violations over the course of the day. One of those cited, a 20 year old Portland, OR, man, was arrested and booked for the same offense at 6 PM on the 1400 block of Haight Street. 600 block of Stanyan Street (Haight St.) 9:20 PM Disorderly Conduct Officer Racine arrested a 21 year old SF man for being drunk in public. 300 block of Irving St. (4th Ave.) Theft Landscape tool taken on June 22. 800 block of Oak St. (Steiner St.) Stolen Vehicle '12 Acura taken. 1000 block of Pierce St. (Golden Gate Ave.) 9 AM Search Warrant Service Sergeant Bosshard and posse served a search warrant and arrested a 43 year old Western Addition woman for possessing methamphetamine and her 34 year old male roommate for a probation violation and on a local warrant 1000 block of Shrader St. (Carl St.) Auto Burglary Occurred June 22. 1400 block of Oak St. (Baker St.) 1:20 AM Robbery A 22 year old Haight Ashbury man fought off two robbers who had chased him and demanded his cell phone. Then they overpowered him and took his athletic bag and groceries. 1800 block of Ellis St. (Steiner St.) 2:15 AM Aggravated Assault - Shots Fired A witness reported seeing a gunman firing shots on Ellis Street. Two victims reported that they had been fired upon while parking their SUV. They abandoned their vehicle and fled to a relative's house. Beulah and Shrader Streets 4 PM Battery Officer Tarbox investigated a Domestic Violence incident wherein a 39 year old Haight Ashbury man struck his girlfriend and stole her car. Officer Lamela found the perpetrator near the initial scene six hours later and arrested him for battery and car theft. 700 block of Stanyan St. (Haight St.) 6:55 PM Robbery A 21 year old Richmond man was robbed of his cell phone. Other Incidents 1200 block of 7th Ave. (Lincoln Way) Auto Burglary Occurred between June 26 and 27. 1300 block of 7th Ave. (Irving St.) Stolen Vehicle '07 Aprillia motorcycle taken. 850 Broderick St. 2 PM Death Case Officer Hunt investigated a death case and summoned the Medical Examiner's Office. 1300 block of Divisadero St. (O'Farrell St) 5:15 PM Theft Shoplifting case - no arrests. 1100 block of Hayes St. (Pierce St.) 5:30 AM Burglary A resident woke upon hearing a burglar in her kitchen. The thief fled when she called out. A briefcase and a jacket were taken. The burglar made entry via an unlocked kitchen window. 1800 block of Grove St. (Masonic Ave.) Burglary Occurred between 3:30 and 7:30 AM when victim was home asleep. Forced entry via side door to apartment. Laptop computer and car keys taken. 1800 block of Grove St. (Masonic Ave.) Burglary Occurred between 10:30 PM on June 24 and 6:30 AM on June 25. No forced entry found. Entry into parked car inside building's garage. First block of Broderick St. (Waller St.) 8:45 PM Robbery A 43 year old Lower Haight District man was thrown to the ground by two robbers who rifled his pockets and fled with his phone, cash and keys. 3600 block of 16th St. (Castro St.) 10:35 PM Aggravated Assault A 37 year old Santa Rosa man was struck in the head with a bottle which was thrown from the balcony of a bar. Other Incidents First block of Castro St. (14th St.) 7:40 PM Battery A SFFD medic was bitten by a woman that he was transporting to a hospital. 1000 block of Divisadero St. (Golden Gate Ave.) 12:25 AM Traffic Case Officer Bowers stopped a motorist for running a red light and arrested the 19 year old Pacific Heights man for DUI. Divisadero St. and Golden Gate Ave. 3:15 AM Traffic Case Officer Daza investigated a hit and run traffic collision and arrested a 22 year old Novato woman for hit and run driving and DUI. 1300 block of Hayes St. (Divisadero St.) 5:30 PM Fire Case SFFD extinguished a two alarm house fire. 2100 block of Turk St. (Central Ave.) 2:50 PM Auto Burglary A witness called to report that a car was being burglarized by two men. Officer Ferraz and Officer Leong found the pair nearby. The two suspects fled from the officers. The good officers captured one man, a 19 year old Chinatown resident, nearby and charged him with auto burglary. |
